Learners
This lesson is designed students in the ninth grade. This could be easily adapted into other grades by incorporating more or less research and altering the required sections of the newspaper. This lesson is based in a history class, while using aspects of art, English, and family and consumer sciences. If the students are in a program that keeps them with the same teachers all day, the lesson could be used in each connecting subject.
Prior to this lesson, students will have to know the main events of World War I. This lesson would be at the end of the World War I unit, which will allow for students to synthesize the information they already know. Students would also have to have a basic understanding of technology that would allow them to research online and to produce their newspaper electronically.
As previously stated, this lesson could have variations by incorporating parts of the lesson into the other discipline's classes.
